Art network seeks for creative minds
at The Institute of Creative Minds in Istanbul, Turkey
What are Bahçesehir University and the Institute of Creative Minds?
Bahçesehir University is a highly-recognized higher education institution located in the heart of Istanbul. The Institute of Creative Minds (ICM) is an Istanbul-based art network serving as a body of the university that organizes artistic and cultural events within the national and international scope. Besides running interdisciplinary media work for a variety of sectors and developing content for large-scale organizations with no commercial concern, its non-hierarchical structure makes ICM different from other art collectives. Despite the lack of opinion-generating consciousness arising from the educational shallowness and the natural outcome of such concept of art, ICM provides the appropriate atmosphere for productions that do not distinguish among the people of different age, gender, socioeconomic status, political view and religion by encouraging young folks to create freely and innovatively.
LET’STANBUL 2011 Experimental Art Festival At a Glance
The Institute of Creative Minds is organizing a never-before-seen experimental art festival to be held in Istanbul between September 9-15th, 2011. It’s called the LET’STANBUL 2011 Experimental Art Festival. Within the scope of a week-long festival; a creative crew of 15 people coming from all over the world with different professions ranging from designing to dancing will carry out high-visibility projects tailor-made for Istanbul by creating artistic productions. The festival to be held for the first time in Turkey by the organization of ICM will display 15 different experimental artistic applications and follow-on supplementary activities originating from the thematic idea of “quicker and easier accession into art and artwork”. Extending its boundary not only to art spaces but to public areas, LET’STANBUL 2011 aims to redefine the existing perception of art. The chosen slogan of the festival is “LET’STANBUL 2011: Art Goes Outdoors!” Through experimental arts, ICM targets to open up new approaches to traditional art perception expressing the idea that art can be rendered only in the galleries and exhibitions. In accordance with this objective, the experimental art applications to be held by 15 independent artists with different backgrounds will come up with a reinterpretation of public spaces through an artistic point of view. Art will be an accessible expression for all the Istanbulites regardless of any differences with LET’STANBUL 2011 Experimental Art Festival and will flow out into the streets as in the slogan of the festival.
Beware: This is not a full-time job advert but a temporary activity announcement for those who want to get involved in artwork to be created in Istanbul. The Institute of Creative Minds is seeking for 5 (five) artists who can participate in the LET’STANBUL 2011 Experimental Art Festival throughout the official schedule. ICM will provide accommodation, food, inner city transportation and the necessary equipments for the invited creative people.
