Civil Structural Design Review Engineer - 6367 in Libya

Our Client, a Major design and construction contractor involved in multi-million pound projects is seeking a Civil Structural Design Review Engineer for their project in Libya.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
- BSc in Civil Engineering.
- Membership of a relevant professional body/institution would be an advantage. Chartered Engineer will be also an advantage.
- The ideal candidate should have extensive experience (10-12 years) in the design and review of Civil /Structural works.
Civil/Structural Design Review Engineer must demonstrate competence in the following areas:
- Structural analysis and design of reinforced concrete and steel structures (substructure and superstructure) in accordance with current international standards (BS, EN, ACI, AISC, IBC etc).
- Design of seismic/dynamic resistant buildings and structures to current international codes (IBC, EN etc).
- Good understanding of the sequence of design and review of designs.
- Ability to assess the compliance of project design criteria with Client’s requirements.
- Design of associated structures (steel poles and gantries, foundations etc) for 33KV and 66KV transmission lines (Sag, loading, wind etc).
- Design review of civil/structural works with particular emphasis on water related projects-water retaining structures, main conveyance pipelines and water distribution systems including associated appurtenant structures (thrust blocks, chambers etc) and drainage system in an efficient and effective manner.
- Proficiency in utilizing of various civil/structural design software (SAP2000, Prokon, STAAD Pro etc) and MS Office package.
- Good communication skills (in English language) are required in both spoken and writing form. This is a Client and Contractor facing role. Therefore the ability to communicate at all project levels is mandatory.
JOB SCOPE:
- Prepare, review and approve of civil/structural design packages-structural calculations and drawings.
- Prepare, review and assessment of project technical documentation- technical specifications, procedures, reports, method statements etc.
- Maintain close technical contact with other disciplines on the Project-hydraulics, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical, corrosion to ensure that the design meets the project requirements.
- Attend meetings and workshops with Client, Contractors or third party on civil/structural matters.
- Hold design coordination meetings with contractors
- Undertake site visits to assist and advice on site issues and site trials as and when required.
- Technical support to junior engineers
Rate: Competitive – please quote what would attract.
Duration: Minimum 12 months but could well extend to 36 months.
